Everyone has expectations about how they want things to go in their life and sometimes it goes well and other times we are disappointed.
There are times in our lives when we imagine our plans falling apart, or assume that our success will require more than we can give so we remain STUCK… in Fear! The acronym for FEAR is:
F- False
E- Evidence
A- Appearing
R- Real
This is a great tool to use to check in with yourself to evaluate if you are basing your decisions on unrealistic assumptions and wondering if you will fail, it can be paralyzing!
What can you do?
It isn’t going to be easy, but it is going to be worth it! You will feel uncomfortable at first, but it will make you more accountable. The first step is understanding you are not a victim of circumstance, but you are an AGENT of ACTON. What is one thing you can do to move forward? Make a commitment to having the courage to having an open, accepting and resilient heart. Once you take that first step, you will begin to see changes.
Allowing ourselves to be ENOUGH right now and lessen our expectations of others is also important and very liberating! When others don’t act the way we want them to or the events don’t turn out how we expect we see disaster or we judge life as awful. From this viewpoint, we see only how people and events fail to measure up to what we think they should be. Appreciating what IS can be a great alternative. It is about softening our requirements into preferences. We do have the ability to accept whatever is happening in the present moment, with mental awareness. Reframing our challenges into opportunities takes practice and it begins when we let go of our fears!!
